What is your Happiness Index? On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the most, how happy do you feel most of the time? My sister asked me this the other day. She caught me by surprise cause my sister is a speed talker and she doesn’t usually give me a chance to contribute meaningfully to our conversations. The most I can do most of the time is to humm and haw whenever she has to stop talkeing to take a breath. I am exaggerating just a bit may be but I was actually quite surprised that my sister asked me the question on Saturday after our customery dinner at mom’s place. I searched internally and felt congruent with an ’8′ as my answer. I could think of a few things that held me back from blasting out a perfect ’10′ so I erred on the side of being conservative.

If she had asked me that question 6 months ago I would have said 4 because I felt absolutely miserable at that time. When I hit bottom way back in the Summer time, I knew I had to do something to break myself out of that rut. It wasn’t that the roof was falling down or I had some incurable disease to combat 6 months ago, it just that I had it in my mind that things have to be perfect before I allowed myself to feel good let alone happy. That attitude contributed to the majority of my misery for way too long. I was at the end of my rope and I made myself a promise that I would do whatever was necessary to turn that around. First thing I did was booked a session with Franco Dinicola for a spiritual healing. I recognized that I could not solve my own issues cause I am too close to it. Next thing I did was booked a vacation with my family. Spending time with my family away from distraction is very grounding for me. It was particularly satisfying because I took my kids to see my 2 Aunts and Uncles in San Francisco and Oregon in the US. I have not seen them for quite a few years and saw family members whom I’ve never met before. It was an amazingly gratifying experience to see my extended family, to see how each has created their lives and realize that I have full power to create what I want in my lfe. Third but not lastly, I’ve enrolled in a whole slew of workshops that helped me to gain invaluable insights into the real nature of life. I have a completely different perspective on what reality really is.

It took for me to hit rock bottom to get the message that I don’t have to wait until life is perfect to be happy. Being happy is a choice that only I can make. When I choose to be happy and commit to do whatever it takes to get there, I can only succeed. What is your Happiness Index figure and what are you willing to do to be happy?

Exercise, meditation and eating a balanced diet are part of a healthy life style. Additionally, your emotional well being is a formidable ally in your health. Hypnosis is a recognised tool for personal growth, emotional hygiene, maintaining healthy self-esteem and happiness. Hypnosis is a natural and powerful tool that can bring quick and permanent changes to every area of your life: strengthen relationships, enhance career, improve health and promote happiness. It is a tool that will allow you to release old negative habits and increase your sense of peace and joy in just a few sessions. It is a flexible tool that can help you open up to the full potential of your life and put you on your way to endless possibilities.

What is Hypnosis?

We are all in and out of hypnosis every day. As we watch TV and our mind is ‘some where else’, or when we ride the elevator to go up to our work place and our mind wanders off while we are watching the floors display keep climbing. It is when our mind simply cruise, i.e. when our critical thinking swiches off and we are wide open for suggestions. When our mind is in a state of relaxation, our unconscious mind accepts suggestions for behavioral changes that is permanent and lasting.

ALL Hypnosis is Self-Hypnosis. In other words, hypnosis is a specific form of mind control whereby you are the only one who is in control of which suggestion you accept.

How Effective Is Hypnosis?

A survey of psychotherapy literature by Alfred A. Barrios, Ph. D. revealed the following recovery rates:

psychoanalysis: 38% recovery after 600 sessions

Behavior Therapy: 72% recovery after 22 sessions

Hypnotherapy: 93% recovery after 6 sessions

I still remember the first time I attended a Matrix Energetics seminar. I felt like my head was send to another dimension, dis-assembled and then put back together again a few times over. It was an awesome experience. I thought to myself if Jesus were alive today I bet this is what he would be using to heal people. It’s not like anything I have ever heard of or imagined possible. After attending all four levels of training I finally feel comfortable to incorporate it into my practice.

Before I go any further, I would like to mention that what follows is my take on Matrix Energetics. It is not the definitive description nor interpretation of ME. For that, please visit Matrix Energetic’s home page here to gather your own interpretation. M.E.’s premise is that everything is light and information. We may or may not consciously know how to interpret the light and information presented to us yet unconsciously we notice it. M.E. is a system of how to interact with the light and information and how to create transformation. Applied to healing, our body is but a body of light and information. Our body is amazing and has the prime directive to keep going as best it can under the circumstances. Over time though, our body may have made so much adaptation to keep us functional that it can no longer function naturally. M.E. provides an amazing method to guide the body back towards normal natural function through quantum repatterning.

I have been having these aches and pains that some times interfere with my beauty sleep. I like sleeping I have to admit and even though these aches and pains are not interfering with my joy of life much, I decided that I would like to do something about it before they get to that point. So I picked up a few books on the subject to arm myself with some knowledge on what to do. The book that really caught my attention was Sherry Roberts‘ Pain Free in 6 Weeks. Dr. Sherry Roberts is an MD with a conscience. With her extensive knowledge in environmental medicine and her own experience as a patient, she walks her talk in telling me what worked for her and why. Her book is a treasure of information on what you can do to arm yourself against pain.
First of all is the realization that aches and pain is NOT and I repeat NOT a natural part of aging or living well. Aches and pain in your body is the signal your body gives you that something is not going well please take a look into this Missy/Mister! To dull the pain by gulping down 2 Tylenol tablets or whatever you take for pain is equivalent of ignoring the first alarm from your alarm clock in the morning. You know it’s just going to go off again even louder next time. She first advised to stay off night-shades in your diet. Night-shades include – potatoe, tomato, egg plant, all colors of peppers except black pepper. I know I have a tomato senstivity from having done a food sensitivity test a few years back but I still eat tomato. Having read her book and reaquainted with the consequences of eating things that you are not suppose to eat if you want to rid yourself of aches and pain, I decided to go on a night-shade free diet. It’s been 2 weeks since I got on this track and it’s been interesting especially when I go to an Italian restaurant. By now though, I am not a stranger to making changes in my diet. I told my daughter about the diet and she rolled her eyes. Ahhh, my young padwan does not know that a moment on your lips is no reward for a life time of inflammation on your hips or knees or whatever joint in your body that’s giving you some feedback.
The next thing I learned to do is to monitor my PH value. I know from my training as a biofeedback practitioner that our body function best within a rather narrow range of PH value. When we are outside that range our body has to work much harder to keep us going. It’s amazing how much abuse our body can take before it falls ill. I bought a packet of 100 litmus paper for about $10 which is available in most holistic pharmacy. Each morning I would pee on a strip of paper and match the color of the paper to the color chart on the packet to determine my body’s ph value. It may not seem the most pleasant thing to do first thing in the morning, however this one little routine helps me be accountable for my body. I now know what my previous day’s food and liquid intake has done for my body. It’s not instantaneous feedback but it’s recent enough that I still remember what I ate so that I can make some changes in my eating and drinking habbits the rest of the day if I don’t like what I saw. It allows me to take responsibility of my own well being. I know that if my body is usually accidic, my body is a great breeding ground for virus and bacteria. And if my body is mostly alkaline, virus and bacteris will not like me much. Even if I happen to come accross some hasty flu bug my alkaline body will not encourage them to multiply easily in me. Checking my urine’s ph every morning gives me an idea and feedback on whether I’m doing the right things for my body or not.

I have suffered from depression for a good many years of my life. At first I thought that if I released enough sadness, guilt and limiting believes I will eventually get better. Until then, I’ll have to get through some days more stoically then others. As I dwelve more into my condition, I realised that depression is not just a mental or spiritual affliction. There is also a physical component to depression that once I started to address, the blue clouds that’s been around me for what seems eternity finally lifted.

The first noticeable change occurred when I stopped eating bread and all things glutton for 3 months last year, i.e. 2010. It was not the easiest diet change for me for I love bread. Give me bread and a bowl of soup and I am in 7th heaven. But every time I put myself on biofeedback, celiac keeps coming up. I was really curious about why I keep seeing that because I love bread and it is a big time comfort food for me. But I got curious last Summer and I decided to experiment. I decided to stop eating bread and all things glutten for a couple of weeks and see what happens. After a few days, I swear I was having withdrawal anxiety. Bread has become such a staple in my life and when I stopped cold turkey, I just didn’t know what to eat any more. Though a part of me wanted to experiment, a part of me just didn’t like the change. It took me a while to work out what else I can eat for breakfast. The 2 weeks were the most interesting. I have to re-educate myself about what I could or could not eat. It was an uphill battle at first but my pig-headedness prevail. After a few weeks I started noticing that a fog has lifted from my mind. I seemed to be able to focus much better then before. I felt a big boost in my general wellness. It wasn’t just one area of my life that I felt an improvement, I felt an overall improvement. So much so that the rest of the 3 months went by relatively easily. I still remember that I love bread but I have a much better handle on controlling my glutten addiction! I was glad that I stuck it out for the full 3 months. I realized that it takes two to three months to get rid of the residual effect of a food sensitivity.

At the end of the three months I did go back to eating some bread though I have cut my bread consumption to once or twice a week. I don’t have the anguish of not knowing what to eat besides bread any more once I armed myself with a good glutten free cookbook. My glutten free experiment expanded my knowledge of how much I have control over how I feel just by changing my eating habbits. Not eating glutten is just one of the things I have done that help lifted my mood. I felt a relieve from my dull mood though not a full recovery by all means. I guess that just means I’ll be doing more experiments with my diet. I do feel that making the decision to take glutten off my diet changed my head space completely. Even now that I’ve gone back to eating some bread, I don’t feel the reliance or “addiction” on bread any more. Once I’ve made the decision to be very mindful of what I put into my body, the confidence that I have control over how I feel grew quickly. I know, not suspect or hope, that if I don’t like the way I feel I can change it. This knowing puts me in a very different place with my depression. I know that I am not at the mercy of some affliction that I don’t understand any more. I know that it’s my choice whether I stay in this mood or decide to try on another mood. And that is a very comforting thought.
